In this panel, leadership from Yoga Alliance, Accessible Yoga, and Yoga Service Council discuss and highlight the Evolution of Yoga Blueprint document created to raise questions, explore possibilities, and invite change in the areas of yoga and cultural appropriation, racism, consent, and accessibility. This is one of many conversations that dives deep with experts in the areas discussed in the Blueprint.


About the Presenters

Dr. Christa Kuberry leads Yoga Alliance’s ongoing efforts to evaluate and evolve yoga teacher training standards. A yoga teacher, yoga student, and yoga scholar, Christa has been practicing asana for more than 15 years and received her Ph.D. in 2015. She currently serves on the steering committee for the Yoga Theory and Practice Group at the American Academy of Religion and has most recently taught courses on Yoga, Comparative Religions, Ethics, and Wellness at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado. Christa has extensive experience in corporate wellness and is a nationally recognized educator, frequently asked to speak and teach at workshops and events around the United States.

Jivana Heyman (E-RYT 500, C-IAYT) is the founder and director of the Accessible Yoga Association, an international non-profit organization dedicated to increasing access to the yoga teachings. Accessible Yoga offers Conferences, Community Forums, and a popular Ambassador program. He’s the co-founder of the Accessible Yoga Training School, and the author of Accessible Yoga: Poses and Practices for Every Body (Shambhala Publications), as well as the forthcoming book, Yoga Revolution: Bringing Your Practice into the World to Serve with Courage and Compassion (Nov. 2021). Jivana has specialized in teaching yoga to people with disabilities. Growing up with ancient, eastern modalities rooted in Indian heritage, yoga and meditation became Rajni Tripathi's (E-RYT 500, YACEP) tools of service to those who seek it. She is a multidisciplinary yoga teacher, trained in prenatal yoga—conscious and sacred birthing, certified Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider, and has over 2,000 hours of teaching experience. Rajni's purpose is to use yoga and meditation to enable her students to combat burnout, boost energy, and reduce stress. She helps her students cultivate an authentic, fearless, and impactful life that leaves behind division, harmful mindsets, body discomfort, mind-chatter, and negative emotional reactions.
