CE Workshop | Functional Movement of the Shoulder Girdle

This anatomy-based workshop looks at how to train and maximize the shoulder girdle for mobility. Plus, participants learn how weaknesses in other areas of the body place undue stress on the shoulder complex.

CE Workshop | Shoulders: Experiential Anatomy

Erin Ehlers guides a shoulder anatomy and physiology lesson using movement and strengthening exercises. This experiential class will include simple exercises that enhance your understanding of the shoulder and work wonderfully in yoga classes as smaller pieces of bigger poses.

CE Workshop | All About the SI Joint

Dive into about the anatomy of the sacroiliac joint and its relationship with neighboring structures in the body. Learn functional movement patterns that support this joint's health and how to work with common pitfalls and challenges in a yoga practice.

CE Workshop | Lower Back Pain and the Iliopsoas

Approximately 80 precent of the population suffers from chronic, or episodic, lower back pain. This can occur for many different reasons, yet how we move, sleep, and sit can dramatically impact our backs' health. Often, proper balancing of the deep flexor muscles of the “core” with the extensor muscles of the lower back/pelvis can improve low back pain—and yoga is a wonderful medium for this to occur! This workshop discusses the functioning of the iliopsoas muscle, the alignment of the pelvis, and the risks of excessive sitting and poor sleep hygiene. It also provides guidance on how to address and trouble-shoot our students’ and personal lower back pain.

Yoga Alliance Office Hours | Anatomy: The Low Back

In the Yoga Alliance Office Hours series, expert panelists open their office doors, answer participant questions, and centralize discussion on nuanced and complex yogic topics. In this event, returning digital event presenters Keri Bergeron, Jenny Loftus, and Arturo Peal break down the anatomy of the low back.

CE Workshop | Q&A on the SI Joint

Presenter Jenny Loftus facilitates a Q&A based on her previous workshop, All About the SI Joint. Event participants have the opportunity to ask questions in real time and review information that will deepen their understanding of SI joint anatomy and its application(s) in yoga. For reference, the original workshop recording can be found archived on yourya.org or on our YouTube channel.

CE Workshop | Demystifying the Psoas Major

In the “forest” of the body, the psoas major is a very influential “tree” because it crosses so many joints and significantly impacts the lumbo-sacral-hip complex. For reasons discussed in this workshop, the psoas major can become dysfunctional and contribute to low back and hip problems. Come explore, demystify, and get to know the psoas major in this workshop, which covers anatomy and functions of the psoas major, why it likes to cause trouble, and what we can do about it with wise use of our yoga practice. The event includes both lecture and practice.

CE Workshop | Experiential Anatomy of the Hip and Pelvis

This experiential class introduces simple exercises that explain the movements of the hips and pelvis, enhance your understanding of their role in body strength, and clarify how to cultivate useful mobility. These movements will work wonderfully in yoga classes as smaller components to bigger poses.

Yoga Alliance Office Hours | Anatomy: The Wrist

In the Yoga Alliance Office Hours series, expert panelists open their office doors, answer participant questions, and centralize discussion on nuanced and complex yogic topics. In this event, returning digital event presenters Keri Bergeron, Jenny Loftus, and Arturo Peal break down the anatomy of the wrist.

CE Workshop | Yoga for Young Athletes

Nick and Aaron of Men Care Now, discuss the Yoga for Young Athletes program designed to help yoga teachers communicate and integrate yoga into sports and recovery programs for youth. The conversation also illuminates the benefits of teaching yoga to youth, including how to deliver and structure a class.
