CE Workshop | Men Care Now Fellowship: Creating a Safe and Inclusive Space for All Men

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are critical to understanding various perspectives and building personal development and community growth. The first step to building a community that fosters DEI is creating strong principles and delivering powerful and helpful information that can lead to increased risk awareness and greater compassion. By allowing each individual to find what works for them—and by bringing those experiences together using a rigorous framework—so many more people have the opportunity to find out how yoga can benefit their life. In this class, presenters discuss this central topic and share individual offerings and experiences.

CE Workshop | Kemetic Yoga for BIPOC

Take a deep dive into the ancient Egyptian system of Kemetic Yoga. Learn more about what Kemetic yoga is, including its importance, history, and philosophy.

Panel Discussion | Intention into Impact: Transform Your Teaching into Action

This panel discussion focuses on taking intentions around creating yoga equity and turning them into meaningful action. It’s often that we have the right intentions but lack framework and strategy to translate them. Here, panelists share three specific tools to help teachers impact their communities in a way that translates into equity and inclusion.

CE Workshop | Yoga and Society: Realities and Misperceptions Fueled by the Media

Using survey and media research, this workshop discusses yoga population demographics, including the presiding public impression and social justice implications of the skewed dominance of white women practitioners. The conversation will explore faulty impressions including the need for flexibility—or even wealth—in order to practice, as well as the need for inclusive public education and recognition that yoga can be adapted for any practitioner.

Panel Discussion | Evolution of Yoga Summit and Blueprint, Kickoff

In this panel, leadership from Yoga Alliance, Accessible Yoga, and Yoga Service Council discuss and highlight the Evolution of Yoga Blueprint document created to raise questions, explore possibilities, and invite change in the areas of yoga and cultural appropriation, racism, consent, and accessibility. This conversation is followed by three more panels that dive deeper with experts in the areas discussed in the Blueprint.

Panel Discussion | Evolution of Yoga Summit and Blueprint, Part 1: Increasing Accessibility

As a continuation of the Evolution of Yoga Summit and Blueprint series, this discussion looks at ongoing barriers that continue to keep Yoga an exclusive practice and proposes some possible solutions and ideas for moving forward and addressing these concerns. Presenters examine and deconstruct the following: the definition and principles of accessibility, what is keeping marginalized populations away from the practice, the visible and invisible barriers that make yoga inaccessible, and a path forward.

CE Workshop | Reflection: Yoga Teachers, Power, and Privilege, Part 2

Inspired by presenter Susanna Barkataki’s book Embrace Yoga’s Roots, this four-part series explores key issues in our community and offers participants experience in powerful practices like yoga, conversation, breathing, and meditation. These practices help support us in mending our spirits as we act, transform, care, and support ourselves and others. Part 2 focuses on power and privilege.

Panel Discussion | Evolution of Yoga Summit and Blueprint, Part 2: Equity and Racism

While whiteness is positioned to have access to practices that are healing and liberating, we know many BIPOC are suffering with disproportionate rates of hypertension, heart disease, racial trauma, and the impacts of being made invisible by culture. When we leave race out of a conversation about yoga, we reinforce the idea that some are meant to suffer while others are meant to be healed and liberated. A focus on race allows us to deepen our understanding of the intersection of capitalism and the industry of yoga, and to consider how we can truly move beyond inclusion and create a liberatory space where those marginalized based on race can practice self-determination and create conditions for themselves to thrive.

CE Workshop | Teaching Yoga for Big Bodies

As a plus-size yoga practitioner and teacher, presenter Kady Lafferty of Big Booty Yoga has spent years exploring and learning more physically comfortable ways to access yoga postures and flow more freely in a big body. For big-bodied students, it can be apparent when teachers don’t have knowledge on how to sequence for, adapt to, or support their success in class, which can feel isolating. This 75-minute workshop equips teachers with tools to empower students of all sizes so they will feel seen and appreciated. Walk away with tips and tricks to accommodate curves, hips, bellies, and busts.
